• grateful for the major gifts in my life: my wife, our home together, our dogs and cat, our families, and our friends; my job, the students I work with, and my colleagues; my life's experiences (both the good and the bad).
• grateful too for small moments of miracle and wonder.
• for the most part, comfortable with who I am, and
• sure of what van Gogh meant when he said, "For my part, I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream."
